Who's behind it, and how we work
Why Receptwell exists
Most small businesses in Ireland lose calls and enquiries every week: the phone rings while everyone is with a customer or on a job, a web enquiry sits unanswered until the evening, and the lead goes to whoever answered first. The do-it-yourself AI tools don't fix that for a busy owner, because somebody still has to set them up, test them and keep them right.
Receptwell was set up to do it properly: an AI receptionist configured around each business, tested with real Irish callers and Irish names, with the data protection work done before launch and a person to ring when something needs changing.
Who's behind it
Receptwell is run by Sean Birchall, based in Shannon, Co. Clare, trading as Receptwell. Sean has spent years working with Irish businesses on their phone and connectivity services, and saw the same problem everywhere: good businesses missing calls they'd paid to generate. He scopes, builds and supports every Receptwell deployment himself, so clients deal with the person who set up their system rather than a support queue.

How we work
- Discovery first. A short call about your calls, enquiries and the work you'd like taken off your plate, followed by a clear written proposal. Nothing is built until it's agreed in writing.
- Built around you. Your services, opening hours, common questions and the way callers actually speak, including Irish names and spellings, which are tested on real calls before launch.
- Honest about AI. Every caller is told at the start that they're speaking with an AI, and anyone can ask for a person at any time.
- Data protection built in. Every client gets a written data processing agreement naming each provider and where it processes data, a transfer impact assessment for any processing outside the EU, call records stored in Ireland and deleted on an agreed schedule, and a commitment that nothing about the AI changes without the client's written approval. - Supported after launch. Early calls are reviewed and the setup fine-tuned with you, and changes go through Sean directly.
What we don't do
- Pretend the AI is a person.
- Say an appointment is booked when it isn't.
- Collect sensitive personal data, payment details or PPS numbers over the phone.
- Promise guaranteed results or claim to be "certified" compliant. Each deployment is reviewed against the client's own circumstances.
